TINA Tampon Insertion (Grip Aid)
Description
The TINA Tampon Inserter is a specialized assistive device for the hygienic, safe, and comfortable use of tampons, developed by The Active Hands Company. It is designed to make tampon insertion significantly easier—not only for people with limited hand function, reduced grip strength, or decreased fine motor skills, but also for anyone who has difficulty reaching, gripping, or pressing a standard tampon applicator.
TINA functions as an adaptive tampon insertion aid that, unlike the standard grip of a tampon, provides an ergonomic handle and smooth, flexible petals. These features help optimize the insertion angle, depth, and control during use. The comfortably shaped handle allows users to apply force using the arm or shoulder rather than relying solely on finger strength, which is a major advantage for individuals with limited hand function.
The device is placed onto the top of the plastic applicator of a compatible tampon and helps guide it into the correct position. It works with many common brands, including Tampax Pearl and Radiant, Playtex, Kotex, and others, by simply clipping onto the plastic applicator. An adapter is included for some narrower applicator designs. The product cannot be used with cardboard applicators or tampons without applicators.
Compared to conventional tampon applicators, the TINA Inserter provides an assistive mechanism that reduces the required force and improves accuracy. This is especially beneficial for users with motor impairments, pain, arthritis, or other conditions that reduce grip strength.
