Description

!COMING SOON!

The Sixth Sense is a wearable device designed for blind and visually impaired people. It helps users move through everyday life more safely and independently — completely hands-free. The device detects obstacles above ground level and immediately alerts the user through vibrations or voice notifications. This allows users to instantly know if something is in their way and how far away the obstacle is.

In addition, users can enter a route via an app. The device then provides GPS navigation and gives directions and distance information. Control is simple via Bluetooth, for example to start, pause, or repeat navigation. There is no need for cables or extra batteries — everything is integrated into a comfortable, lightweight device that is worn like regular headphones. The device also works without navigation (it still detects obstacles and provides warning signals), but GPS guidance requires a connected smartphone.

The product is ideal for people with visual impairments and can be used in many everyday situations, for example:

  • While walking, the device warns users about branches or signs.
  • On the way to work, it helps with safe navigation through streets and train stations.
  • In a new city, it guides users to their destination — completely without outside assistance.

The Sixth Sense, which has been tested for more than 100 hours, was developed in Vienna and London. The product is expected to launch in 2026.

Hopetech CEO Brian Mwenda and CRO Laura Wissiak were recognized for their work on the product by being included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2025 list for Social Impact.
