The SMART is a lightweight adaptive and active wheelchair from molab, specifically designed for children and adolescents. It is one of the fastest-to-build and most cost-efficient wheelchair solutions in molab’s portfolio, as it is offered with a reduced range of custom-build options. This streamlined configuration allows for shorter delivery times and lower costs compared to more complex models.
SMART combines molab’s well-known advantages of individualized fitting with a simpler, more streamlined design that still includes all essential functional features. The wheelchair is suitable for active children and adolescents who wish to manage their daily mobility independently. Typical areas of use include both indoor and outdoor environments, where maneuverability, ergonomics, and individual adjustment are key.
Compared to the LOGIC model, which offers a wide range of custom-build options and extensive adjustability, the SMART focuses on a reduced custom configuration. This makes it quicker to provide and more widely accepted by funding bodies due to its clearly structured equipment packages. In addition, SMART can “grow” with the child within a defined adjustment range at no additional cost (excluding cushions), making it an economically attractive solution across several developmental stages.
Technically, the SMART is based on a welded rigid aluminum frame (Alu 7020 T6), combining high stability with very low overall weight while ensuring excellent ergonomics. It offers all standard molab adjustment options, such as adaptable center of gravity, tipping point, and activity level optimization, even though the range of expansion options is more limited than in fully custom-built models.
