ShareAmigo is not a single physical device, but an innovative digital and physical mobility offering (shared mobility system) in which electric mobility scooters are used communally. This system allows people with mobility impairments or temporary mobility needs to flexibly reserve and use an electric mobility scooter without having to purchase one themselves—similar to car-sharing or bike-sharing.
Through an app, phone service, central reservation kiosks, or on-site activation, users can select a vehicle, unlock it, and use it immediately. ShareAmigo is primarily aimed at municipalities, housing associations, care facilities, and individuals who want to improve mobility in public spaces. The vehicles are available at strategically placed locations and can be used immediately once reserved.
The system includes IoT technology installed on the mobility scooters, which communicates with the app and user account through the reservation system. The scooters themselves come from established manufacturers (e.g., Life & Mobility or Medema / Mini Crosser), who are MDR-certified to provide safety- and quality-tested mobility aids.
Compared to owning a mobility scooter, this shared mobility concept offers greater flexibility, lower maintenance and acquisition costs, fewer parking issues, and higher utilization rates for municipalities and public services.
