The OrCam Read Smart is a portable reader that gives blind and visually impaired people greater independence. It combines artificial intelligence (AI) with a miniaturized optical sensor to instantly convert printed or digital text into speech—completely offline, without an internet connection. Operation is incredibly simple: hold the device like a pen, press the large button, and a pointer indicates the area being read. As soon as you release the button, the highlighted text is read aloud through the built-in speaker or optional Bluetooth headphones.
Equipped with a 13-megapixel camera including a flash, the OrCam Read Smart reliably recognizes even small or low-contrast text. Thanks to its compact size (122 mm long) and lightweight design (44.5 g), the device fits into any pocket—ideal for on the go. It already supports several languages (German, English, French, Italian), with additional languages available as optional add-ons.
