Description
The MT Evo is a manually propelled all-terrain wheelchair designed for people with limited hand function. The model is based on the Mountain Trike platform and has been specifically developed for users with tetraplegia, quadriplegia, or other conditions affecting grip and hand function. It offers the same off-road capability as the original Mountain Trike but features simplified controls and adapted operating functions.
Propulsion is provided via the patented Mountain Trike lever drive system. The drive, steering, and braking functions have been adapted for users with reduced hand function. The direct steering system allows the wheelchair to be driven and steered with just one arm, according to the manufacturer. Ergonomic drive loops support efficient force transfer, while the specially designed brake control can be operated without finger function.
The MT Evo is designed for use on a wide variety of surfaces. It is suitable for forest paths, gravel tracks, park routes, grass terrain, as well as everyday urban and natural environments. The integrated air suspension improves ride comfort on uneven ground and ensures stability over roots, stones, and kerbs. Disc brakes provide reliable and controlled braking performance, even in wet conditions and on descents.
For transport, the MT Evo can be folded into a compact unit and, according to the manufacturer, fits into the boot of a standard compact car. In addition, an existing Mountain Trike can be upgraded using an Evo kit.
