The handbike is attached to a manual wheelchair as a manual traction aid. The user can easily connect it independently.
This allows users to cover distances more quickly and with less effort, significantly expanding their personal range of mobility. The pedaling motion provides excellent training for the shoulders, chest muscles, and the entire cardiovascular system. Engaging in physical activity with family and friends can also have a positive impact on the user's mental well-being and promote inclusion.
When combined with electric assist motors, the handbike can handle routes, inclines, and unpaved paths that would otherwise be inaccessible without such support.

The handbike can be mounted on a wide variety of rigid-frame or folding wheelchairs. The only exception is wheelchairs with removable footrests. Different types of attachments can be used for this purpose.
The wheelchair must be in technically sound condition. Rigid-frame wheelchairs are best suited for this, as they are more stable than folding wheelchairs and, in most cases, can accommodate a second axle.
