Description

!Note: Depending on the country of origin and type of impairment, assistive devices of this kind are often financially supported or fully covered by public funding!

The FaMe Color Identifier is a compact, voice-controlled assistive device for blind and visually impaired individuals that makes precise color and light information accessible in everyday life. It not only recognizes colors but also provides detailed color descriptions regarding saturation, brightness, and hue direction. This makes it especially useful for tasks such as identifying clothing, matching pairs of socks, or checking LED status indicators. Additionally, the integrated light finder function reliably detects light sources—for example, to determine whether a light is on or a monitor is active.

Unlike many simple devices, FaMe provides detailed information on about 600 common colors and shades—avoiding the confusion of an overwhelming number of theoretical color names. The texture and contrast recognition further enhance everyday usability, for example, when checking if paper is already printed. A special advantage is the combination of easy two-button operation with extensive functionality, including single and continuous measurement modes, a headphone jack with separate volume control, and an especially compact design weighing only 65 grams. The built-in lithium battery is charged via USB-C, making the device ideal for use on the go.

FaMe stands out for its reliability, portability, and intuitive handling — a daily companion for greater independence and orientation in life with visual impairment.
